Support, Donations and Fundraisers for Giants' Fan beaten at Dodger Stadium

You're probably guessing by the post title that this isn't going to be a fun and flirty kind of post. Sadly, you're right. But I wanted to let you know there will be a Carwash Fundraiser  on April 9th and 10th in Antelope Valley. If you already know what happened to Bryan scroll down for the list of Fundraisers and how to offer support and donations.

There is evil in the world. A few days ago it found father of two, Santa Clara paramedic and SF Giants' fan Brian Stow. Being the fan that he is, Bryan had traveled all the way down to Los Angeles to support his team at this year's season opener game.

By all accounts Bryan and two of his friends were walking back to their car through the parking lot at Dodger Stadium after the game. Because they were wearing their orange and black Giants gear, two thugs (I refuse to call them fans) wearing Dodgers gear began harassing the group when inexplicably they struck Bryan, unprovoked, in the back of the head causing him to fall to the ground hitting his head on the pavement. They then proceeded to kick him repeatedly before running away.

Bryan was left lying on the ground in critical condition with a fractured skull, swelling of his brain and the awful possibility that doctors may need to remove one of the frontal lobes of his brain because it is so damaged.

These are the sketches by the LAPD of Bryan's attackers.
If these men look familiar to you or you know who committed this crime, please go to the police not for the reward, the reward is just a bonus, go because it's the right thing to do.

From various news reports online here is what I was able to gather together:
  • The suspects are both between 18 to 25 years old
  • Both had shaved heads and thin mustaches
  • One had a small goatee
  • The other had numerous tattoos on his neck
  • At least one was wearing a Dodgers jersey
  • Both were allegedly drunk
  • The getaway car was a light-colored, four- door sedan
  • The car was driven by a woman
  • A small male child was a passenger in the car
  • There is now a $150,000 reward fund for information leading to the arrest of Bryan's attackers.
  • From the L.A. Times: Police are asking anyone with information to report tips to LA Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website.
If you were at the game and this group looks or sounds familiar to you because you may have sat near them, let the authorities know where you were sitting. Maybe they can pull clear images of them out of a camera feed or someone nearby took a snapshot and they're in the background. I'm certain it would be helpful if they could ascertain where the assailants were sitting.

How wrong is that? A guy whose job it is to save lives goes to a baseball game and for no reason at all is now fighting for his life. It's sad and stupid and senseless.

From the moment I first read this story in the news it made me feel sick and I wished there was something I could do to help. Well, I'm writing this blog post, that's a little something, and tonight I'll be eating pizza from Pizza My Heart.

  1. This situation is pathetic and sad. It is obseurd that we have to come to a place like this over a baseball game. Prayers and thoughts are with this man and his family. I hope they catch these thugs.

  2. Thanks Jason. I hope they catch them too.

The only good thing to come of this tragedy is to see so many people rallying to help Bryan and his family. A small consolation considering his life will never be the same again but still heartwarming to see people care so much for someone they've never even met.

  3. I would agree... One other positive that I hope comes out of this would be to see people stand up against bullies instead of watching, and in some cases encouraging these escalating conditions.

  4. Very good points! Your comment reminds me of that tv show "What would you do?" where people observe something out of the ordinary happening, usually someone being victimized or people breaking the law in some manner, and a tv crew observes to see how many people stop and help or try to put a stop to what is going on either directly or by calling the police. It's often shocking how many people will walk by because they don't want to get involved :(

  5. Thanks Jason. I hope they catch them too.
