Kitai's Doggie Christmas

I'm a firm believer that if you have pets (birds, cats, horses, dogs, etc,) who enjoy toys, it's a good thing to give them new ones from time to time to keep them mentally stimulated and occupied. Kitai is a huge toy lover. He loves balls, Nylabones, rubber squeaky toys and plushies. He loves to squeak them, chase them, carry them around and he loves to tear them apart.

Speaking of tearing apart he also knows how to open his presents on Christmas morning. He is such a smart dog though it took me a while to figure out he could do this. Here he demonstrates his gift opening proficiency making short work of the two new toys he received this year. He is so funny!

I was really happy and flattered to be a tasting judge for the 2011 Bridal Chocolate Salon Awards of Excellence competition. You can see lots of pictures of delicious chocolate and read what it was like tasting over 40 chocolates in 90 minutes by CLICKING HERE.

I was awarded Wish Upon a Wedding's Shining Star award in Nov. 2010 by the San Francisco Chapter's Board of Directors. The award is their way to thank and pay tribute to wedding professionals who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service. A new book titled "Life on Your Terms" shares the story of how I became an entrepreneur. You'll find my bio in the chapter titled: "Letting Go of Fear." But my experience is just a very small part of a very large story about author Shann Vander Leek's own experiences and 39 other entrepreneurs who have also sought life on their terms.

I took Mark Ferrell's Master of Ceremonies Workshop (Bronze Level) in May 2010 and it was a transformative. You can read all about it by CLICKING HERE.

In late 2009 I was approached by "Be The Match" formerly known as The National Marrow Donor Program, because they had seen the volunteer, marrow donor recruitment and education advocacy I had been doing online ever since my cousin Tami had become ill in Feb. 2009. They said there were others like me out there, just doing their own thing supporting the program and they wanted to create a formal support system for us at "Be The Match."

I was invited to be a part of a focus group that over the course of several weeks, gave feedback as they designed the SMART program. Once completed, I was invited to become one of its first members and officially passed the test in May of 2010.

I was honored to receive recognition from the "Women's Initiative" for being recognized as an outstanding business in 2009. The Women's Initiative supports women, particularly minority and financial challenged women, by teaching them how to become self sufficient entrepreneurs and offer micro-funding to help them launch their new companies.

A Patient's DIY Tutorial: How to launch a bone marrow or stem cell donor drive.

Advocating for people world wide to join the marrow donor program. I built this site in 2009 when my cousin Tami was diagnosed with a blood cancer called MDS and needed an adult stem cell transplant to survive. Thankfully an anonymous donor stepped forward but not all patients are so lucky. Thousands die each year here in the US for lack of finding a marrow match.
