Oh No Mr. Bill!
I saw this picture on my friend Critsey Rowe's blog and laughed so hard! Critsey is the talented photographer and creator of Couture Boudoir® photography. And she obviously also has a great sense of humor :D
Normally she photographs people. But last year she took a creative turn. . .
And photographed a session of Barbie Boudoir photos that went viral online. I thought they were fun, glam and very clever.
While many women have the confidence to go all out in a boudoir shoot, when I decided to do a shoot with Critsey on the North American leg of her international tour in 2009, I was a bit more timid.
It wasn't a very racy boudoir shoot but it was a boudoir shoot nonetheless. Something to cross off the bucket list. An ex-boyfriend's mom used to say every Christmas when the guys didn't want to pose with her for a family portrait: "Every year we get another year older and uglier so it's better to take pictures now." She didn't believe in waiting for next year. LOL
So, I decided it was time to step out of my comfort zone behind the camera and get in front of it with someone I trusted taking the shots. In the end I was very happy with the photos. IMO they were fun and flirty.
While some may think boudoir photography over sexualizes women's bodies I think the end result is a product of the intention. They can be over the top sexy, a way to celebrate, accept and appreciate your body or something in between.
